An Independent Charity
Although we are part of the national organisation with access to central resources and assistance we are an independent Charity responsible for our own revenue generation and cost management. In fact we make a financial contribution to Central Office.

Some key Branch facts and figures
	We currently have around 70 volunteers
	We manage our own volunteer recruitment and training
	In 2007 we answered nearly 12,000 calls, 600 emails and had 104 face to face callers
	In addition to supporting callers we provide active support in Chelmsford prison by training and supporting "Listeners" as well as direct contact with inmates
	With our SamVan we attend events such as V Festivals and Essex Young Farmers events
	If we paid our volunteers for their time @£12 per hour our salary bill would be £5000 per week.
	It costs just under £1700 per month in core costs (gas, electricity, rates, telephone etc) to keep our Branch running
	It costs £1000 each year to keep our SamVan on the road
