An Independent Charity
Although we are part of the national organisation with access to central resources and assistance we are an independent Charity responsible for our own revenue generation and cost management. In fact we make a financial contribution to Central Office.

Some key Branch facts and figures
	We currently have c 85 volunteers
	We manage our own recruitment and training
	On average we answer c 11,000 calls, 600 emails and 60 face to face contacts each year.
	We support HMP Chelmsford by training and supporting 'Listeners' as well as direct contact with inmates.
	We are available to give talks in schools, community groups, societies etc.
	With our SamVan we attend events such as V Festival Gay Pride Essex Show Essex Young Farmers
	If we paid our volunteers for their time @£12 per hour our salary bill would be £5000 per week.
	It costs just under £1700 per month in core costs (gas, electricity, rates, telephone etc) to keep our Branch running
	It costs £1000 each year to keep our SamVan on the road
